There has been a desire in my heart to go to Uganda for many years. I have to say that this trip far exceeded what I had hoped to see and experience. I felt welcomed and embraced by the people we met. The warm culture and generous hospitality we encountered was such an encouragement. I learned so much from everyone we spent time with. I was personally convicted by the generosity, gratefulness, contentment and humility rooted in a deep dependence on God that I witnessed while on the trip. We have so much we can learn form the church in Uganda. We went on house visits two by two with an interpreter, this was one of the most impactful parts of the trip for me. During the house visits we prayed with a widow raising multiple grandchildren that had very limited resources, individuals with physical and mental limitations, and people dealing with deep spiritual battles. It was humbling to be a part of encouraging the body of Christ in Buikwe. This trip helped me to see many different aspects of the heart of God and knitted my heart to a body of believers thousands of miles away. I am truly grateful for this opportunity and the amazing work LIA does in partnership with local churches.
