LIA Buikwe Uganda 2026 - By this all people will know that you are my disciples...

What a joy to experience the Kingdom of God in Uganda alongside the Life in Abundance team and our amazing team from SECC! Our mission team leaders worked closely with LIA to ensure all aspects of our arrival and time in the communities had impact. Our mission was to provide training to local church leaders and savings groups on leadership and financial management. In addition to the trainings, the LIA team prepared us to make home visits in the communities to spend time with residents, to share encouragement from God’s word and of course to pray. My wife Stephanie and I both had our concerns prior to the trip. Was there any value in what we would share? Would we have the right words to pray? Would bugs and bathrooms and language barriers be a problem? All those concerns faded away during our first church visit with Pastor Francis and the church family at Tukulu Rock Church. Stephanie and I were sent as a pair on the first Sunday to worship at Pastor Francis’s church and deliver a word of encouragement. The warm welcome of love we received overwhelmed us. The church family had prepared for months for our arrival, and we had prepared for months to be there, all out of love for one another. From that moment forward we trusted that our God would provide what needed to be said and would open the eyes and ears of those who needed to hear. We learned from the Ugandan Christians the power of joy that is not contingent on circumstances. They taught us the joy of hospitality, be prepared to be loved on, the joy of generosity, singing and dancing accompany the collection of tithes and offerings, and the joy of fellowship, every meal we shared with our Ugandan brothers and sisters felt like family. My wife and I are so thankful to God we said yes.

In John 13:34-35 Jesus gives his followers a new commandment to love one another just as he has loved them. In verse 35 Jesus declares "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." The Kingdom of God is on the move in Africa and around the world, all glory to God forever and ever, Amen.
