My husband, two kids (10 and 8 year olds), and I signed up for this mission trip so that we could all go serve together as a family. Our team went to Riverwood, near Knoxville, Tennessee. We went to serve on the campus there, doing anything that needed to be done, but our main goal was to provide a fun day for the residents, and love on them while we were there. I have heard so many people say that they go on a mission trip to be a blessing to others, but end up receiving such a blessing themselves. How true this was for us! We walked into Riverwood and instantly had 20 new friends for life. I have never felt more welcomed anywhere that I have gone. The residents at Riverwood love Jesus, love each other, and instantly love the people that they meet. What a beautiful lesson for all of us. For anyone reading this experience, please take a moment and pray for Rhonna, the director at Riverwood, and the rest of the staff. Please pray that God continues the fire in their heart that He placed there for adults with disabilities. And please pray that God continues to meet the needs of the residents there. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Riverwood, DO IT!!!!
