Our trip to Kontakt this year was an immense blessing. It had some challenges, including lost luggage, a cold that sapped my energy, mechanical issues with the plane on the return flight, and a health emergency on the same flight. Yet in all this, God met us with a spirit of peace and faith. He gave us a servant's heart, blessed us with patient endurance, and I believe enabled us to have an impact on Poland for Christ. There were many special moments on this trip; I want to share three of them.
Baptism! On our first Sunday after the church service, several attendees gave their hearts to Jesus and were baptized in the river at the camp. However, by Friday, we had several more baptisms among the short-term missionaries who had gone with us.
One young lady made a profession of faith in October 2025 and was baptized at her church. But because her father was a Polish Jew, she wanted to be baptized again as a testimony to her faith and heritage.
One of the college students from Nashville made a profession of faith and was baptized by her teammate and the pastor who led their team.
I got to be part of a painting crew painting a meeting room at the local school. The school administrators wondered why a group of Americans would come to Poland to help paint their school.
Our group leader, Lidia, who is wearing the black shirt in the picture, told them it was because we loved Jesus and wanted to be a testimony to the Polish people of Jesus' kindness and love. To put it mildly, they were astonished!
One day, on the bus ride to school, I sat beside a young girl named Iga (not pictured). Because she had come with Lidia, who is an intern at PROEM, I thought she was somehow connected with the ministry. I began talking with her about a love for God, faith in Christ, and sharing that faith. She started crying! I’m thinking to myself, “What did I say now?” and decided to quit talking.
The next day, Lidia and her friend Caroline (pictured in the pink shirt) found me at camp and told me they had been praying that someone would talk to Iga. Iga was searching and interested. Lidia said when she saw Iga crying, she knew God was dealing with her heart. So please pray for Iga. As for me, it amazes me how God can use us, even when we don’t know what is going on, just because we choose to be present.
