Our Mission trip to the Scotland 20Schemes was an amazing first mission trip for me. I am super nervous about talking in front of a group but do well with one on one. One of our evenings was spent with the local ladies coloring. God placed me in the perfect spot to interact with two local ladies. One lady I found out had been through the same struggle of losing a parent to dementia and the other who is struggling with having prodigal children. I connected with them immediately and am now connected with them on social media to keep in touch, and joining them in prayer with our struggles after my return home.
I did not know what to expect going into my first mission trip and what the mission would be. We went to different family homes of pastors and did various tasks that lifted a weight off of the families so they could focus on their families and the community outreach to bring people to Jesus. I realize that missions isn’t just sharing the gospel but also serving where needed. I had a wonderful time meeting the families and learning bits about their lives.
One of the things that I carried home with me is the fact that the interns rely on funding and I want to help them with their mission going forward.
One thing that impacted me the most was the team retreat before we left where we all shared our stories. I had team members encouraging me after sharing my story that had been through similar experiences helping me to know I was not alone. The retreat is a must in my opinion in really getting to know who is on your team. As a team we did daily devotions each morning in Scotland which started each day with Jesus.
I am so thankful for everyone who prayed for me and helped to fund this mission trip. I thank Jesus who teaches me over and over that all things are possible through him.
