Thank you Jesus for the opportunity to meet my brothers and sisters in Uganda!! We were able to visit both Adjumani and Buikwe. LIA has been present in Adjumani for about 6 years and LIA is just starting too impact and empower the churches and communities in Buikwe. The people in Buikwe were hungry for success and ready to put in the hard work in order for that to happen. While the people in Adjumani had already experienced much success, they continued to dream and save. One of the things the stood out to me was something that Pastor B said during the pastors fellowship in Adjumani, "What we lack now, God will provide." He stated this with so much confidence. He had witnessed the Lord at work, and he knew He would continue to provide over and over.
The church we attended in Buikwe was beautiful. We sand, danced, laughed, prayed, cried, and worshipped the Lord together. The people there welcomed us as if we were old friends and not strangers from across the world.
On the last day in the field our team was able to visit several families in the Adjumani communities and a couple homes in the South Sudan refugee community. The team split up into two different groups and the group I was apart of was accompanied by Pastor Savior. His love for the community was so evident, but even more his love for the Lord. He helped translate, he listened, he asked questions, and he answered questions. Thank you Lord for Pastor Savior and his wife Florence!! The stories we heard while doing the home visits were heartbreaking, but there was hope. Hope in their voices, hope in their faces, and hope in their prayers. I felt so privileged to have the opportunity to meet these people, hear their stories, encourage and pray for them!
This trip grew my faith in many ways. I was able to experience things that put reality behind what I grew up listening to and being told. God is a healer, He is mighty, He is caring, He is loving, and He is on the move!! While it was hard to say "see you later" I couldn't be more grateful for these 10 days, the team I was apart of, and the people I met. God you are so good!!
