Looking back on the week the word that sticks out most to me is fellowship.
1. Our SE Team
Our primary object was to love on others this week, and we did that, but the people we spent most of our time with was each other. Some of us have served together before while for others this was the first time. What was apparent to me is how quickly we got along and were able to immediately start making an impact on each other. And I found that to be no coincidence.
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. Matthew 18:20
2. The Kids
From the moment those kids stepped through the doors I could feel the energy. Familiar faces excited to get started. New ones filled with nervous anticipation. Both them and us. But all of that energy came to life when we gathered for that first time. I can’t speak for everyone, but for those few hours there was no tired and no nerves, just positive energy. Again, I don’t find this to be a coincidence.
With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26
3. The Thrive Team
While speaking with the Thrive Team, both staff and volunteers, it was clear they were thankful for our help and drew inspiration from our presence. While I wasn’t here for the first year, I noticed an undeniable difference from last year to this one. A little more help. A little more organization. A lot more kids. Our partnership and relationships have grown during our time here, and I think a lot of the success this week is how we were able to feed off of each other.
Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17
It was another impactful and unforgettable week. I’m thankful to have been a part of it and am already looking forward to next year.
