Obedience & Reward

While in high school, my wife was in the middle of her 1st international mission trip when God pressed in her heart a desire to pass her love for His Truth and sharing it with the world. On this trip, she began praying to one day share this passion with her children on the mission field.

Fast-forward almost 20 years. As we reached the terminal in Poland, I was so excited to just run off the plane. Then I remembered the advice/challenge I was given from a spiritual giant in my life, sometimes in life and probably on this trip, as God did with him, God may just want you to sit back and quietly watch. God reminded me of this as we walked off the plane, as He allowed me to step back, and quietly watch this beautiful obedience unfold. Not only was this day something Leslie and God have been talking about for quite sometime, something so meticulously planned out, so perfectly designed, after a 3 hour delay, boarding and de-boarding our original plane, then boarding another plane in Detroit, getting hit with the beverage cart 10 or 1,000,000,000 times because of my isle seat, this was all designed by our creator God to remind me and prepare me for this moment. It was like that moment in movies, when one character sees the other character they are madly in love with, time stops, wind starts randomly moving through their hair with every step, as that person walks in slow-motion. In this moment God set my wife's and daughter's feet on the ground, in Poland, to tell these amazing people of His relentless, reckless love. We were not even on the ground for 10 minutes before God reminded me of Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know I am God", and what it looks like through the obedience of Leslie's almost 20 year prayer and Izzy obediently stepping out out in faith. One knowing God would someday answer when He was ready and the other knowing that you may not feel ready to go & tell, but God was ahead of her and would be beside her every step of the way.

God again showed us how powerful His love still rules this world. As we had poured every ounce of energy we had into the daily activities and worshiping with the kids at camp, we were still uncertain what invitation night would look like. We had prayed with and over the kids attending. Most of these kids, close 90%, were not from christian homes. For some, they had not heard of the power of God, the story of Jesus, or the gift of the Holy Spirit. As we listened to the call to come forward for all that wanted to choose a life with Christ that evening, never in my mind would I have ever imagined what happened next. Of the 150 Kids attending camp, nearly 100+ of them stood for Jesus and walked forward. Again I heard God shouting at me, "Be still and know I am God!"

The next morning, one of the Proem staff brought a photo she had taken during the middle of decision night. While in worship God sent another reminder, via a beautiful rainbow standing directly over the worship center, to remind us to "Be still and know that I am God!"

Constantly, I find myself thinking Wow! This is amazing! Then God subtlety says, well there is more! Which was the theme of our Camp this summer, Jest Więcej! There is more!
