We Are the Church: Building relationships with the youth and people of Havana.

I was in Cuba April 1-8 with eight godly people I now consider to be my family. I've never experienced God's presence like I did on this trip-His love was evident in all of the hearts of the pastors and translators we met. The people there are very genuine and kind, and treated us like we were long lost friends. God restored my faith during this trip, when I had experienced doubt and lack of hope in the past. I have struggled by asking God to answer prayers my way, and when they aren't answered, I figured he didn't listen or care. He revealed to me that he does answer prayer, though it may not be how I expected.
I also learned that God is never distant; it is our nature that pushes him away. Though hard to realize at first, I had to face my pride and get out of my comfort zone. Not only did I grow in my faith, but I had the opportunity to evangelize-something I have never done before. This trip gave me the confidence to proclaim the Good News to those who don't have it. It was surprising to meet people who had never heard the Gospel before, because everyone I know at home at least knows who Jesus is. I learned to not become discouraged when people did not accept the Truth right away, because it is God's work, we are only the messengers.
Leaving this trip, there are many things I ask that you pray for. Please keep the pastors of the house churches in Cuba in your prayers, that they do not become discouraged. We met a young woman that wanted to start a new church in her home, and I pray that she will be able to do so. Also, I ask that you pray for the people we met, that the Lord will continue to work in their lives and that they come to know him.
I thank God constantly for this experience, and the amazing encounters I had with him, from journaling or playing worship music, to praying over people's sickness. Our God is omnipresent, from places like Louisville, Kentucky to Havana, Cuba.
So I would love to thank all of you who have supported me, through prayer and monetary donations. I am very grateful for every gift and word of encouragement sent my way; without you all, this trip would not have been possible! God Bless.
