CrossRoads Shelbyville
Welcome to the Crossroads Shelbyville build opportunity!
Thursday October 22 through Saturday October 24, 2020
This fall, we are inviting you to Grip the Plow by engaging in a 2.5 day mission trip to the Shelbyville community with Crossroads Missions. This will be more than a physical build, it will also be about building lasting relationships. The initial project will be building a barn loft at Storm Haven Youth Ranch, a ministry which connects vulnerable children with rescued horses for healing. This build will provide a gathering space for the young people they serve, bringing God's love, light and encouragement.
In Shelby County, CrossRoads is also working on other projects including transforming a facility into a community center to honor veterans with Awake Ministries Veterans Village project, as well as a home for Habitat for Humanity. We are hoping to have enough trip members so that we can divide up into teams to bless these projects.
The trip cost is $150. This contribution will be applied to expenses for supplies, meals and other essential items for this local mission trip. CrossRoads will also provide masks and gloves, and follow safety and COVID guidelines. Our projects will be working in small teams outside or in large open spaces. Participants must be 16 years of age or older in order to use power tools.
Due to COVID, this trip will not include overnight stays, however, we ask for members to commit to full participation Thursday afternoon and evening, and all day Friday and Saturday which includes all meals and after dinner discussions. Thursday afternoon will begin with Community Transformation training starting at 4 pm. Dinner will be provided and CrossRoads staff will also provide an orientation to the build(s). Friday and Saturday start time will be 8:30 a.m. for light breakfast, devotions/testimonies, and then work will commence at 9:00 am. Lunch will be provided on site, and debrief dinners will be provided both days.
If you have further questions, please email Andrea Amettis at [email protected].
